Amanda Alfanos began training at the age of three at Dance Dynamics Performing Arts Center in Walled Lake, MI under the direction of Dori Matkowski.
She has more than 18 years experience in dance including: ballet, music theater, jazz, lyrical, modern, and hip-hop. She received the Dr. Hersh Scholarship
at the age of 16 for her dedication, leadership and perseverance through dancing. In high school, she trained competitively and trained intensively with the
American Ballet Theatre and the Radio City Rockettes. Amanda also is proficient in the practices of yoga and Pilates.
Other credits include dancing at Walt Disney World, for the Detroit Pistons and at the Oklahoma Centennial Spectacular. Amanda trained at Oklahoma City University on scholarship under the dance performance degree program for two years. She was a member of American Spirit Dance Company and performed in the annual student choreography show, where she served as a line captain. She will obtain a bachelor's degree in mass communications from OCU in May 2011. Amanda continues to share her love of dance by teaching at Movement Innovations and several dance studios as a master teacher and adjudicator in Michigan. She currently serves as editor-in-chief for OCU Student Publications. Amanda also hosts a blog, OCU Arts Low-down: amndaann.wordpress.com, where she covers performing and visual arts of OCU. She strives to be a professional journalist and critic of the performing arts in the future. |
