Instructor

Emily Fine

Emily began her dance training in jazz and tap at OCU's children's program. When the program ended, she continued her studies under the owner at her former studio, Susan Webb's Dance Innovations, where she met a dancer from the New York Met named Mark. Mark pulled her mother aside and begged her to take Emily to the School of Ballet Oklahoma. Since that day, Emily has trained in the School of Ballet for the past nine years. While training at the Ballet, she attended many summer intensive training courses, such as Tiffany Falls Summer Intensive (on full scholarship), Virginia School of the Arts, American ballet Theatre Austin and Orange County, Tulsa Ballet, and Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute (five summers in a row!).

After graduating from Putnam City West high school in 2003, Emily joined Ballet Oklahoma's Company under the direction of Bryan Pitts. She was then cast in soloist parts such as the 'Dor Mouse' in Alice In Wonderland, 'Duck' in Peter and the Wolf, 'Sister-in-law' in Forgotten Memories, and 'Dew Drop' in The Nutcracker.

Emily has just finished her sixth season as a Company member with the new OKC Ballet (directed by Robert Mills). Here she has been cast in soloist roles in Still, The Nutcracker, and Moulin Rouge. In her final show of the 2008-2009 season she played the Wicked Witch of the West in the Wizard of Oz, "She was a delightfully powerful and threatening presence," wrote Kathleen Redwine from the Daily Oklahoman. Emily has been honored enough to make guest appearances with Perpetual Motion Modern Dance Company, Pseudodance Company, the OKC Philharmonic, and perform a solo at the Kennedy Center from the ballet Pequita, teach at the Washington Ballet, and will be performing in Hui Cha's dance company R.A.C.E. this summer.
